Chryseobacterium indologenes Septicemia in an Infant
Chryseobacterium indologenes is a rare cause of infection in children. The organism causes infections mostly in hospitalised patients with severe underlying diseases. The choice of an effective drug for the treatment of infections due to C. indologenes is difficult as the organism has a limited spectrum of antimicrobial sensitivity. We present a case of nosocomial septicemia caused by C. indolo...

INTRODUCTION Chryseobacterium indologenes is an uncommon human pathogen. Most infections have been detected in hospitalized patients with severe underlying diseases who had indwelling devices implanted. Infection caused by C. indologenes in a newborn has not been previously reported. CASE PRESENTATION We present a case of ventilator-associated pneumonia caused by C. indologenes in a full-term...

Chryseobacterium indologenes is a non-fermentative Gram-negative bacillus that is a rare pathogen in humans. Its occurrence in diabetic children has not been previously reported. In this report, a case is described of C. indologenes bacteraemia possibly associated with the use of a peripheral venous catheter. A 2-year-old boy with type I diabetes mellitus was admitted due to a coma caused by ce...
متن کاملChryseobacterium indologenes Meningitis in a Healthy Newborn: A Case Report.
Chryseobacterium indologenes is a rare cause of infection in infants. The majority of case reports belong to hospitalized infants with indwelling devices. We are presenting a rare case of Chryseobacterium indologenes meningitis in a healthy newborn with no neonatal intensive care unit admissions or indwelling devices. The pathogen is resistant to many antibiotics and the patient was successfull...
متن کاملChryseobacterium indologenes peritonitis in a patient with malignant ascites
Chryseobacterium indologenes is an uncommon pathogen of human disease and is usually associated with indwelling devices or immunocompromised hosts. We report here an unusual case of C. indologenes peritonitis in an oncological patient with malignant ascites. The patient was treated successfully by trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole without removal of the catheter.
